Clean Today, Save Tomorrow: Sanur Beach Action

Amidst the glitz of tourism, Bali is now on the brink of a waste crisis. It is estimated that every year Bali produces more than 1.5 million tons of waste from the tourism industry and various other community activities. As awareness of waste management is still low, most of the waste is not managed properly and ends up in rivers and coastal areas. This is coupled with thousands of tons of marine debris during the wind and rainy season at the end of the year.

This heartbreaking reality has prompted UNBI International Relations students to conduct regular Beach Clean Up activities. For starters, today the students cleaned up the Sanur Harbor area which has been polluted with various types of plastic waste. This step was taken as a manifestation of the young generation's action towards efforts to deal with the waste problem in Bali. Through the HI Beach Clean Up agenda, HI UNBI students invite all elements of the Balinese people, especially the younger generation to no longer litter and be more sensitive to the threat of the waste crisis to the ecosystem and social life of the community.

Keep your beach, manage your waste🌊☀️
